More About Dr. Kausik Datta
I have been practising as consultant chest physician for last 12 years in different hospitals and nursing homes. I did my postgraduate training in chest medicine at Medical College Calcutta. After that, while doing my solo practice in chest medicine i went on participating in various national and international training programs in chest and critical care medicine. I successfully completed the Fundamental Critical Care Support Provider Course presented by the Society of Critical Care Medicine USA on February 2008. I have been conferred the life membership of different professional organizations including Indian Chest Society, Association of Chest Physicians West Bengal, Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine, American College of Chest Physician, and European Respiratory Society, as a recognition of my accomplishments in my specialty. Recently I have been awarded the Fellowship of American College of Chest Physician (FCCP 2016).
As a pulmonologist and intensivist, I dedicate more than 50% of my time in taking care of critically ill patients admitted to four different medical intensive care units in his locality. At these hospitals, I take the leadership role in the management of ICU administration and organizing care. As the senior consultant, I always try to implement best practices as per current scientific guidelines and encourage junior physicians for delivering the standard care. I am well trained in noninvasive cardiology including advanced Echocardiography and i apply this knowledge in the field of critical care and chest medicine often. I have introduced the concept of lung ultrasound and Echocardiography in hemodynamic monitoring of critically ill patient in our local ICU setups. I and my friend Dr. Pralay Sarkar FCCP were the pioneer persons in establishing the first competent ICU in Hooghly district way back in 2003. At that time there were no such facility at our urban city and adjoining rural areas. I have devoted my life trying to build up a good critical care unit in an urban city where it was never thought of.
